The last few weeks have been packed full with visitors, various activities and what not and there just has not been a free moment to sit until the evenings which is Luis's and my time to relax together so I don't get on the computer much.
I can already feel the rush of the holidays creeping in. 'Tis the season I suppose.
This morning was a rare moment of peace and quiet as Luis took Eli to the training ground and I had a few hours to myself. I honestly cannot remember the last time I was home alone! Ha no wonder I felt like a kid in a candy store with all that I could have done with the extra free time.
My list looked sort of like this:
1. Enjoy my cup of coffee without little hands grabbing at it
2. Savor my time with Jesus
4. Do dishes without little hands tugging on my legs begging to be picked up
5. Get a pedicure with a friend
6. Go to the bathroom by myself
7. Christmas shop online
9. Get ready without little hands tugging on my legs begging to be picked up
10. Have a phone conversation without little hands grabbing for the phone (are you sensing a theme here??)
13. Nothing...hey a girl can dream right?
14. Bake something, anything, preferably something pumpkin
It's amazing how motherhood makes you appreciate even the simplest things in life. Never would I have thought I would appreciate going to the bathroom in peace until this last year. Very humbling.
I accomplished about half of the things on the list, #'s 1-7, 9 & 10, and well, let's be honest, 11 & 12 weren't going to happen on a day when I could do whatever I wanted. I get points though for putting them on the list.
Given that it's been awhile since I've written anything, I'll just give a brief overview of the last few weeks for the Robles clan:
We are loving, loving, loving this fall weather!
Serious chill has only really come into the air this last week which has made for some glorious days outside. Hold off winter as long as possible please!
The team finished the regular season with the best record in the league, earning them New York's first piece of hardware since, EVER!
Unfortunately, the success was short lived as they got knocked out of the first round of playoffs just a week later. The season is officially over and we are adjusting to our new routine and the freedom to determine our schedule without soccer dictating anything.
We had fun on our first real Halloween with our little Pooh at the Hoboken Ragamuffin Parade...gosh it has seriously been forever since I posted!
Eli rocked his costume (and his wedgie) like a boss.
I am enjoying a little more freedom and "me" time these days thanks to Luis being home during the day and Eli being weaned. Last week I went into the city (sans baby) with a friend and for the first time in over a year, didn't stress about being back by a certain time.
Add to that my pedicure today and the fact that I have gotten to exercise every day this week...I could definitely get used to this!
Monday night we went to the Starlight Children's Foundation's Celebrity Sports Auction where Luis was honored as a "Shining Star" alongside a few other athletes recognized for their community involvement.
It was a fun to get dressed up and experience something a little out of the norm for us. I used to work for a non-profit and being there reminded me how much I loooooove events like that.
Last but not least, in case you missed it on Instagram or Facebook, we have a walker on our hands. This boy is so proud of himself.
His confidence has grown with each step over the last three days and as of today, he was officially walking more than crawling, and walking without falling every three steps. It's crazy how fast he went from taking 2 steps, to 5 steps, to walking all over the place.
Three days in, however, and the poor little guy already has a banged up eye from a crash into the coffee table. And so it begins. The first of many battle wounds I am sure.
And with that, we are off to dessert & game night with some friends. The perfect end to a perfect day.
