Morning Monday. It's Monday morning. Okay, more like afternoon over here, but for most of my readers, it's morning for you.
And what better way to kick off the dreaded Monday with an entertaining story and a laugh.
Sooooo, here ya' go. I hope this helps get you a-goin on this Monday mornin'!
I have never been one to take sleeping pills. Maybe I have once in my life, I honestly can't remember. I don't typically sleep well, so really, I don't take the pills cause I feel like I would have to take them at least 3 times a week, and I feel like that would not be a good idea.
I wish I was more like my sister in the sleep department. That girl can sleep just about anywhere!
Last week though, I was having an especially hard time getting to sleep thanks to that whole jet lag thing that we are all too familiar with, so I thought I would see what the pills could do for me.
The first night we were back, I took a new pill that Luis had bought when we were home. It is called MidNite. It said "All Natural" which is a major selling point for me cause popping pills and subjecting my body to unnatural things sort of freaks me out.
Chalk it up to a terrible experience with an antibiotic I took in college.
Anyway, MidNite worked pretty well. I fell asleep at a reasonable hour and woke up pretty refreshed. The second night, Luis wanted me to try the Unisom we had in our medicine bag. Yes bag. We're not cool enough for a cabinet. More like, we don't have room for one.
Luis usually takes Unisom and he wanted me to compare the two for him. Not even ten minutes after popping the pill, I was getting really drousy. So I decided to go to sleep.
Somehow I ended up in this half awake, half asleep mode, but I was dreaming. Vividly dreaming. About Luis and his teammates and spiders in the team restaurant. Human-sized spiders of course, because, really, are there any other kinds of spiders?
And then amidst my dream, I asked, out loud mind you, "What did you have to do with the bugs today?"
Yes. That is the question I posed to my husband in my strange in-between sleep awake stage. It was crazy, because as I was asking him this, I was completely aware of how strange of a question it was and yet, I couldn't stop myself from blurting it out!
As I was saying it, I was thinking, "Cara, what are you talking about???" My eyes popped right open the minute I said it, just in time to see my husband's head look up from his iPad, turn towards me with a very confused look on his face, and then bust up laughing.
The following morning, I could not wake up. Luis' alarm went off at 8:00 and my eyes were so heavy and all I could do was just lay there. I forced myself to get out of bed but I was like a zombie walking around. I finally had to just sit down on the couch for fear of falling asleep while walking. It seriously took me a good hour or so to get going for the day, which is not normal for me because I'm normally up and ready to go by 7:00.
Yeah, that has nothing to do with anything. I just couldn't resist including it. She's just so darn cute that wittle sister of mine.
Okay, enough of the flashbacks. In conclusion, Unisom is NOT for me! At least a whole one isn't. Considering the events, I think it is safe to say that one whole Unisom is too much for my little body to handle.
Should I ever need to take a sleeping pill again, I will be splitting it in half. Or using the Mid/Night stuff. Or just stick to praying, which seems to put me to sleep quite often.
I know, it's terrible. I'm like the disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane. Luis likes to call it my Holy Prayer Time.
I like to think it's just that I'm so at peace before the Lord....or I could just blame it on my Pappy. Sometimes I catch him upstairs praying/sleeping. Or as I like to call it slaying or preeping.
Speaking of my Dad. He had a birthday last week. The big 5-0. I didn't get to blog about it because I was too busy actually celebrating with him, which is 1000 times better than writing about him. But I didn't want to let the moment go by with out a shout out to my awesome father! More to come throughout the week on that subject :)
